R-Amtech Mastic

R-Amtech Mastic is a multi-purpose mastic adhesive that is non-toxic with no VOCs, easy to use, and requires a short curing time. R-Amtech Mastic has superior physical properties of bond strength, water resistance, and temperature resistance. A unique feature of R-Amtech Mastic is its application in both interior and exterior settings including underwater uses. R-Amtech Mastic can be used with a wide variety of substrates and materials. Applications	R-Amtech Mastic can be used with almost any substrate with almost any material in almost any area of use.	Other mastics have a long list of unacceptable materials, substrates, and areas of use.
Toxicity	R-Amtech Mastic contains no VOCs and is non-toxic and odorless.	Other mastics are organic latex, acryl, or epoxy-based.
Temperature Resistance	R-Amtech Mastic has temperature resistance up to 1850° F (1000° C) without any time limitation.	Other mastics cannot exceed 662° F (350° C) except for a short period of time up to 755° F (400° C) at which point they are fully destroyed.
Water Resistance	R-Amtech Mastic is waterproof when fully cured with waterproof grout and can be used in underwater applications.	Other latex- and acryl- based mastics are not waterproof. Epoxy-based mastics are waterproof, but toxic.
Bond Strength	Three R-Amtech Mastic products have breaking bond strength of not less than 271 PSI and the breaking bond strength for the fourth product is 157 PSI. PSI values are for breaking bond tests, so values for shear bond tests are 1.5 to 2.0 times greater.	ANSI A136.1 standard is not less than 50 PSI for shear bond strength.
Curing Time	R-Amtech Mastic has short curing times of three to 18 hours depending on type of mastic used before waterproof grout can be applied in either interior or exterior locations.	Other mastics require 24 to 48 hours curing time before applying grout in interior locations only.
Fire Resistance	R-Amtech Mastic is non-flammable.	Other mastics are generally non-flammable.

There are four formulations of R-Amtech Mastic:

Type MP is applicable for any material or substrate except polymeric products and can be used in both interior and exterior locations including underwater applications.
Type MPL is applicable for any material or substrate including polymeric products and can be used in both interior and exterior locations including underwater applications.
Type MS is applicable for any material or substrate except polymeric products and is designed for interior use with intermittent water exposure. Type MS has lower bond strength than type MP.
Type MSL is applicable for any material or substrate including polymeric products and is designed for interior use with intermittent water exposure especially in high traffic or heavy load areas. Type MSL has lower bond strength than type MPL.

All R-Amtech Mastic products are composites that cure due to water absorption from either a sodium silicate or potassium silicate solution. When water is absorbed by a substrate on which the mastic is applied, curing takes place as a result of chemical changes in the mastic composite and the mastic becomes a solid that is stone-like in nature.
